Then it’s through the countryside, visiting the famous Blarney Stone

country to spend two nights in bustling Killarney. While here we
travel the road that winds around the beautiful peninsula known as
“The Ring of Kerry”. Then see the beautiful Cliffs of Moher and
visit a local farm to see how farm life is in the rural countryside.
This year we have added a night in Galway to show you another lively
Irish town! Our last night is spent in Limerick with fun times to
be had at our optional Medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle before we
head home!

Itinerary
Day 1
Saturday, Nov. 22 DEPART USA.
Fly transatlantic overnight to Dublin,
Ireland
Day 2
Sunday, Nov. 23 ARRIVE IN DUBLIN,
IRELAND
Welcome to Dublin-
Ireland’s capital city! Upon arrival you’ll transfer to our hotel
using your included airport transfer.
Bustling, cosmopolitan,
ancient, but young at heart, Dublin is one of Europe’s liveliest
cities, where medieval and fine 17th century buildings stand
together. Depending on your flight arrival time, enjoy the rest of
the day to explore the city at your leisure.
This evening, our group will
gather for a casual get together to mix and mingle in the hotel
lounge. Then the balance of the evening is yours to relax and sample
some of the quaint and lively Irish pubs of Dublin. For dinner maybe
visit the Temple Bar area, Dublin's Cultural Quarter, located in the
heart of Dublin's City Centre. Some of Dublin's best nightspots,
restaurants and unusual shops line these narrow, cobbled streets
running between the Bank of Ireland and Christ Church Cathedral.
After dinner, make sure you
visit one of Dublin’s many pubs, an essential part of Ireland's (and
Dublin's, of course!) social life and a must for every visitor. In
Dublin today there are basically two categories of pubs: the
Traditional ones, and the Modern ones. Have fun!!
Hotel: Academy Plaza Hotel
has an exceptional location in the very heart of Dublin city
centre and has 285 rooms. Each room has individually controlled
air-conditioning, super-comfort beds flatscreen T.V., laptop sized
safe, complimentary wireless internet access, iron and ironing
board, hair dryer, shower/bath, tea/coffee making facilities. It
also has several restaurants and room service.
Day 3
Monday, Nov. 24
DUBLIN
After an Irish breakfast
in our hotel, we have a full day ahead of us. We’ll get an overview
of the wonderful city of Dublin on our city tour in the morning with
our professional guide for our journey of “Ireland’s Favorite
Places”. The tour brings to life Dublin’s architectural
treasures and history stretching back more than 1,000 years. Visit
St. Patrick’s Cathedral, founded in 1190; tour Dublin’s beautiful
Georgian squares; walk the cobbled courtyards of Trinity College to
its famed library and its truly unique world treasure – the 8th
century Book of Kells.
Also visit the
famous Guinness Storehouse; visit the Guinness Factory visitor
center, learn about the dramatic story of the 250 year history of
Guinness. A complimentary drink in the highest bar in Ireland, the
Gravity Bar, is part of your visit here usually.
This afternoon is on your own
or with friends from the group, continue exploring this exciting
city, savoring its charm and ambience at
your leisure. Maybe shop on Grafton Street, Dublin's smartest
shopping area with fashionable stores such as Brown Thomas. Other
principal shopping streets in the area include Wicklow Street,
Dawson Street, and South Great Georges Street. Also shop on Henry
Street, with department stores such as the popular Arnotts', and an
assortment of popular clothing and footwear stores are here on
Dublin's Henry Street. The ILAC shopping center, and the newer
Jervis Street Shopping Centre are both here. Great shopping!
This evening why not sign up
for our optional Merry Ploughboy’s Pub Dinner and Irish
entertainment for a fun way to end the day in this lively capital!

Day 4
Tuesday, Nov. 25 CASHEL / BLARNEY CASTLE
/ KILLARNEY
This morning we depart
Dublin. After driving through the Curragh, the heart of Ireland’s
equestrian country, view the unforgettable Rock of Cashel, an
impressive pre-Christian settlement. The dramatic limestone rock
crowned with secular and religious buildings dominates the flat
countryside for miles around. Travel on to County Cork to visit
Blarney Castle
with its magical stone that gives the gift of eloquence for a kiss.
Time to stop at Blarney
Woollen Mills to
shop for Waterford crystal
and other handicrafts before continuing on to bustling Killarney.
The town on the lakes is famous for its lively pubs and open,
cheerful atmosphere, full of what the Irish call “craic!” – the
Gaelic for fun. Tonight, you are free to explore the ambience of
Killarney and her pubs. (FB,D)
Hotel: Our
hotel, the Killarney Towers, offers a leisure center
where guests can enjoy a workout in its fitness facility followed by
a dip in the pool, whirlpool or a session in the sauna, steam room
or sun tanning bed. The hotel bar is always buzzing, with live music
most nights. All rooms feature a hair dryer, coffee/tea maker and
personal safe.
Day 5
Wednesday, Nov. 26
THE RING OF KERRY
Today we travel the road that
winds around the beautiful Iveragh Peninsula, better known as “The
Ring of Kerry.”
It is undoubtedly one of the most magical and most beautiful places
in all of Ireland. Here, mountains, valleys, lakes and sea blend
into a landscape that is often breathtaking beyond words. Even the
names of the towns seem to whisper their beauty: Cahirciveen,
Glenbeigh, Killorglin and Sneem. After returning to our hotel, the
balance of the day and evening is at leisure to explore Killarney.
This evening maybe we’ll find some local music to enjoy with the
towns people like in past years. (FB)
Day 6
Thursday, Nov 27 KILLARNEY /
CLIFFS OF MOHER / GALWAY
This morning, cross the
Shannon estuary by ferry and enter County Clare to see the
Cliffs of Moher,
one of Ireland's most visited attractions and spectacular sights,
where a magical vista awaits you with one of the most amazing views
in Ireland. On clear days you can see the Aran Islands too. There
is a tourist centre and a small shop, which sells souvenirs and hot
chocolate and tea!
Afterwards we head north
across the Burren, a suddenly stark and barren landscape dotted with
rare flora. We’ll drop in for refreshments at Rathbaun Farm and
meet a farming family as they carry out their everyday chores. Watch
as the farmer shears a sheep and maneuvers his flock with the help
of his dog. (This may be done on Friday.)
Next, on to Galway to see what
this city has to offer! Galway is
regarded as one of the liveliest cities in Ireland, second only to
Dublin. It is certainly not the place to go if you want to
experience the peace, quiet and solitude usually connected with the
Irish West! The small city center has narrow and winding streets,
and a complete tour takes no longer than a couple of hours. Eyre
Square is at the center of the city and has the Browne Doorway,
cannons from the Crimean War and a modern mall incorporating the old
city walls, the Eyre Square Centre. You can see Lynch's Castle, the
Collegiate Church of St Nicholas and the Spanish Arch on the old
quays. Just across the river is the Claddagh, reputed home of the
famous ring design and famed for its pubs. West of the city you will
find Salthill, a traditional seaside resort with amusement arcades
and good beaches.
Enjoy exploring and then
dinner is at leisure and don’t forget a pub visit tonight as Galway
is known for it fun pubs!! (FB)
